Test Results
Normal laboratory results will be given over the telephone after 2.30 pm. Some results will need to be discussed with your doctor and you will be advised if you need to make an appointment. Please allow at least 3 days before you ask for your results. Some results make take longer.

Clinics and Services

immunise The Practice Nurses are involved in the promotion of health and wellbeing, supplying advice and support on treatment plans,  lifestyle, diet, exercise, smoking cessation and appropriate alcohol consumption. Specialised clinics are available via invitation, for those with Diabetes, Cardiovascular conditions,Epilepsy and Respiratory disorders including Asthma and Chronic Pulmonary. The over all aim being to empower and support patients with up -to-date education and information.

The Treatment Room Nurses undertake a variety of general nursing duties including , wound care, collection of samples as appropriate, including Cervical Smears checking blood pressure, ear irrigation, removal of sutures and some immunisations.

Health Care Assistants,   undertake a variety of blood tests, ECG's, along with taking weight and height , BMI measurements , BP recording and excersise advice.

 

VACCINATION/IMMUNISATION CLINIC

Childhood vaccinations are undertaken by our Health Visitors and you will be notified when to attend. Adolescent & Adult vaccinations/immunisations are undertaken by the Practice Nurses. Please note the Practice will not vaccinate against hepatitis B for Occupational Health purposes, you should contact your employer to obtain details of the arrangements they have in place.

SMOKING CESSATION ADVICE

This service is available at the surgery where you can obtain leaflets, help and advice through the doctors and nurses. The Practice also holds nurse led clinics to give advice and support.

ACUPUNCTURE

If you wish to consider this alternative, please discuss it with your doctor first, as some of the doctors are experienced in this procedure.

NON–NHS EXAMINATION

Medical examinations for special purposes e.g. insurance medical, pre–employment fitness, HGV etc, are not undertaken during normal surgery hours. A special appointment must be made and a fee will be charged.

CONTRACEPTION & SEXUAL HEALTH

Contraception and Sexual Health Advice is available to everyone through the GPs or Practice Nurses. A number of contraceptive services are available at the Practice and we are able to refer you to outside agencies for those which are not. All information will be treated as confidential and will not be discussed with anyone else without your consent. Although these consultations are completely confidential it may be easier for a young person if they can discuss their issues with either their parent /guardian or another appropriate adult, i.e. School Nurse, who can offer understanding and support.

CHILD HEALTH CARE SERVICES

Parents whose babies are registered with the Practice are notified automatically when immunisations are due. Routine development assessments are carried out by the Doctor and Health Visitors.

COMMUNITY AND DISTRICT NURSES

The Community Nursing Team is available to discuss all aspects of nursing care at home and can be contacted on a direct line 01536 527061. If you leave a message they will contact you as soon as possible. If you have any problems with contacting them you can ring the Surgery on 01536 512104 who will try to pass on the information.

Our Community Midwife holds regular clinics at the surgery and can be contacted via Linden Medical Centre for any quieries / problems.

Alternatively , she can be contacted via the Maternity unit at kettering General Hospital on 01536 492000 

MATERNITY CARE

Please let the Receptionist know if you are making an antenatal appointment so that she can give you a longer appointment.

SPECIALISED SERVICES AVAILABLE:

CERVICAL SMEAR TESTS

Please let the Receptionist know if you are making an appointment for a smear test so that they can give you a longer appointment. We advise women to have regular cervical smear tests. All women on the Practice list aged between 25– 65 years who require a smear test will receive a letter inviting them for that test. Routine smear tests are performed by the Practice Nurses.

MAMMOGRAPHY

Mammography is offered to all females between the ages of 50 & 65 years by the local Breast Screening Unit every three years. When you reach the age of 50 you will be invited to attend screening when your postcode area is next routinely covered, which may be sometime later. If you wish to continue after 65 years please ask your doctor to arrange this.

PHYSIOTHERAPY SERVICE.

Patients with acute conditions may be referred by their doctor to the Physiotherapist. Patients can also contact them as self referrals. They will be sent an appointment and they may choose the most appropriate venue.

COUNSELLING SERVICE

The Practice has counsellor’s available, access to these services is referral through your doctor.
