2019 Flu Campaign
Our 2019 Flu Campaign started in the early Autumn.
Flu vaccination is available every year on the NHS, for eligible patients, to help protect adults and children at risk of flu and its complications. Flu can be unpleasant, but if you're otherwise healthy, it'll usually clear up on its own within a week. But flu can be more severe for certain people, such as:
- anyone aged 65 and over
- pregnant women
- children and adults with an underlying health condition (such as long-term heart or respiratory disease)
- children and adults with weakened immune systems
Anyone in these risk groups is more likely to develop potentially serious complications of flu, such as pneumonia (a lung infection), so it is recommended that they have a flu vaccine every year to help protect them. If there is someone you rely on to care for you, please ask them to contact their own GP Practice as they may be eligible for a free flu vaccination.
If you are within a recommended group to have a flu vaccine, the Practice will be inviting you via letter and / or text to make an appointment for one of our flu clinics. All of the letters to those in the Over 65's age group have now been sent. If you think you are eligible, you don’t need to wait for a letter. Please speak to reception to discuss making an appointment.
Further information is available at Reception or from the Practice Nurse Team. We are currently making appointments for the groups mentioned above for Saturday 23rd November.
